Before you roll

Fuel up before check-in Check tires, lights, and fluids Charge your phone Bring a chair Pack snacks and drinks for a comfortable drive Bring a two-way radio if you have one Review the driver briefing

We’ll try to provide loaner radios, but there may not be enough for everyone. Please bring yours if you have one.

On the drive

Drive your own pace and obey posted limits. Do not attempt to keep up with another vehicle. Leave plenty of space and use designated stopping places.

If separated from the group, continue safely to the next confirmed regroup point rather than attempting to catch up.

Stop safely or ask a passenger to consult the roadbook.

Eastbourne Animal Center

Monroe County Friends of Animals

130 Kefauver Lane · Madisonville, TN 37354

Our drive begins at a place built around second chances. Eastbourne Animal Center is owned and operated by Monroe County Friends of Animals (MCFA), a local nonprofit caring for homeless and abandoned cats and dogs in Monroe County.

MCFA’s work began in 2004. Community generosity made its new animal center possible, and Eastbourne opened in August 2024, replacing the former shelter next door. Staff and volunteers work together to care for the animals and help them find homes.

Care. Connection. A home.

Adoption gives an animal a new beginning. Volunteers help make that journey possible through dog walking, socializing, fostering, daily cleaning, and transport to veterinary visits, adoption events, and rescue partners.

Keeping families together.

The Pet Food Pantry offers temporary help to Monroe County residents struggling to feed their pets. Donated food and community support help pets stay with the people who love them. Availability and program details are listed on MCFA’s website.

Make the good go further.

Give directly to MCFA, meet the animals waiting for adoption, or find a volunteer role that fits your time. There are ways to help both at the center and behind the scenes.

YOUR QUICK START

Open. Explore.
Go Car Hiking.

One link opens the roadbook on a phone, tablet, or computer. No account or app installation is needed. Each chapter scrolls vertically; it is not a single printed page squeezed onto your phone.

Open the one-page use sheet ↗Download offline roadbook ↓

1 · Pick your leg

Open The route and choose Morning or Afternoon. The map, mileage, checkpoints, and GPX download change together.

2 · Explore below the map

Trace route plays a preview and pauses at each checkpoint. Tap Continue route to move on. Use Restart to return to the beginning.

Tap a numbered pin or a checkpoint name to see its details. Drag the distance slider to explore any part of the leg. This is a manual preview, with no live GPS dot or spoken directions.

3 · Keep it handy

Bookmark this link and open it before departure. For patchy signal, download the offline roadbook while connected, then open the saved HTML file in a browser and test it before leaving. Some phones restrict local HTML files. External Maps, donation, and website links still need a connection.

Ask a passenger to operate the roadbook while moving, or stop safely before using it.

What opens in Google Maps?

Open location in Maps opens the selected stop. Google may choose its own roads to that stop. That button does not load our full event route or guarantee the same roads.

Can I import the route file?

Save route GPX downloads the selected leg’s supplied route. A compatible GPX navigation app may follow the track; import it and verify the route before departure.

Google My Maps supports GPX imports for a custom map: on a computer, sign in to My Maps, create a map, add a layer, choose Import, then select the GPX. Treat that as a visual reference, not a promise of turn-by-turn guidance along the event route.
